This folder contains all the historic releases from the SeaMonkey Project. Note on Building: ================ Version Can be built ------- ------------ 2.53.x yes 2.38+ could conceivably be built but with some effort 2.0.x - 2.36 could conceivably be built but with a lot more effort, or you still have a builder from that era 1.x you could try, but really, don't bother. In all honesty, even if you do get versions < 2.53 built, you are not guaranteed to have a working browser. This is because a lot of the new web standards aren't supported on these old browsers. These browsers will also require a lot of certificate updating to get them to work with current websites. Historic Note on TimeStamps: ============================ In the past, all of SeaMonkey Project binaries were stored in ftp.mozilla.org; but was then migrated to archive.mozilla.org, which was based on a system in one of Mozilla's DC. In 2016, Mozilla kicked off their migration of services off their DC. The SeaMonkey Project was required migrate away from Mozilla's infrastructure. The Project chose Microsoft Azure. All infrastructure (builders and update services) needed to be migrated to Azure. The SeaMonkey Project continued to use the CrashStats services and archive.mozilla.org. Around 2018, Mozilla moved their archive.mozilla.org to AWS S3 storage. Also around this time, the SeaMonkey Project had to migrate away from CrashStats. Cut to 2022, and Mozilla once again changed storage providers. Moved from AWS to GCS (Google Cloud Storage) and so Mozilla migrated all archive.mozilla.org's contents to GCS. Unfortunately, the timestamps on all files were not preserved. Early 2023, the SeaMonkey Project was now required to migrate their binaries from archive.mozilla.org to a different provider. For simplicity's sake, the project chose Azure Storage. At the end of November 2023, the project has finally moved all the necessary files from archive.mozilla.org to the current storage location. Unfortunately, not everything was migrated. Only releases and nightly folders were migrated; the rest were left behind due to time and resource constraints [i.e. tinderbox, candidates, bundles, experimental]. :ewong 30th November 2023
